Final - Sunday 16th May
at Bryntirion FC
Abercarn 2 Port Talbot 0 (Chris Jones, Sean Mainwaring)
Abercarn won their first Veterans trophy when they beat Port Talbot in an exciting encounter at Bryntirion. Port Talbot started brightly and only a couple of superb saves by Chris Townsend prevented them taking the lead. It was Abercarn however who went ahead after 32 minutes when Dean Kendall’s cross was headed home by Chris Jones giving Port Talbot keeper Andrew Edwards no chance. Just on half time, Sean Mainwaring (left in red) increased the lead when he slotted home from 12 yards after Port Talbot had failed to clear.
The second half saw few chances as Abercarn maintained their grip on the game and with Rob Kendall, who won the Man of the Match award, an inspiration in midfield they safely saw out time to give them their first trophy in Veterans football.
