Bryntirion are ready to defend the Over 40s title that they won by beating Abercarn 3 - 1 in the final in May.
The club itself had a very successful last year with the first team finishing fifth in the MacWhirter Welsh League Division One, their highest ever position. They were also
Runners-up in the Welsh League Nathaniel Car Sales Cup. The seconds were Winners of the Welsh Reserve Division West as well as finishing Runners-up in the Harris Printers Reserve Division Shield.
Not to be outdone, the Youth team reached the Semi-final of the McWhirter Welsh Youth League Cup and the Bridgend & District Team got to semi-final of the League cup.
Quite a formidable record I think you’ll agree!

The Wales Veterans Football League will be made up of 14 teams for the new season. There will be one age group of Over 40s and slight amendments to the rules will hopefully see a very strong competition. This means that the first phase to be played before Christmas will see 2 leagues (East and West) of 7 teams with each playing each other once and the top 3 in each league, together with the best 4th placed team forming a Champions group. The top 4 from this 2nd phase will compete in the Champions Cup semi finals with the winners meeting in the Cup Final in May. The other teams from phase 1 will play in the Consolation league with the top 4 teams playing in the semi finals with the winners meeting in the Consolation Cup final, also in May.
Experienced Steve Branch has taken charge at newcomers AFC Llwydcoed. Steve was at Abercwmboi last season and has also played Vets football for Taffs Well.
Although we will only have an Over 40 group this season we will still be holding an over 45s knockout cup competition. The 2 finalists will compete on Cup Finals day in May. Watch for details.
We will also be selecting an International Over 45 squad as well as an Over 40 squad to compete against England at the end of the season.
It is intended to hold an Over 45s cup competition after Christmas with the top 2 teams meeting in the Super Vets cup final in May. Bryndeg Town of Swansea were last years winners beating Splott Albion 6 - 2 in the final.
